New blog post is up..
'I hate the term corrective exercise!! It implies something is wrong or defective with the person. If you think about it, compensations, adaptations and pain are highly functional. It's your body's way of dealing with threat and stress. If these responses didn't happen you would be susceptible and vulnerable to more injury. We just need to understand why they are happening and stop blaming the body. Pain is the only way your nervous system has to effectively get your attention.
Pain is an attention getter!.

Are Allen Iverson's thumbs sore? Yes. Would he probably prefer to skip Saturday night's All-Star three-point shooting contest and concentrate on his All-Star Game debut Sunday? Yes.
But will the 76ers' star shooting guard be there Saturday night, firing triples off the rack?
Thumbs up, so to speak.
"Yeah," Iverson said before dropping 41 points on the New Jersey Nets in last night's bizarre, 92-90 victory, their final game before the break. "I'm going to do it because I was asked to do it, regardless of my condition."
It's nice to be needed. It is believed league officials implored Iverson to remain involved Saturday night because of his burgeoning popularity and the fact that NBA ratings have dropped on both NBC and the Turner Network.
Iverson was the third-leading vote-getter in the fans' All-Star balloting and the leader among guards in the East. He will be one of nine players making their debut, one of seven on the East roster.
He had been contemplating dropping out of the three-point competition because both thumbs have been bothering him. He missed 10 games after fracturing the right one, and broke the left one in high school.
"Right now, the left one is bothering me more," he said. "My hands get hit a lot when I'm running through the lane, when I don't expect contact. It seems like when you have an injury, that's when you get hit on it more than anything."
He'll be in Oakland launching treys with defending champion Jeff Hornacek, Mike Bibby, Hubert Davis, Dirk Nowitzki, Terry Porter and Bob Sura. But more importantly, he'll be in the East's starting backcourt with former Temple star Eddie Jones.
At the point.
"I want to run the show," Iverson said. "Eric Snow gets to run the show here. I don't mind. I want to have fun, show people I can play the point. And I can play it."
After winning last season's scoring championship, earning first-team All-NBA recognition, finishing fourth in the balloting for Most Valuable Player, Iverson's first All-Star appearance is the next logical step in his progression.
"I just want to run up and down the court, bring my whole playground game out, throw a lot of lobs, show them it's a real All-Star Game," Iverson said.
If you get the idea he's eager, you get the idea.
"I'm looking forward to it because it's something I always wanted to do," he said. "Just to be in that environment, to be in the same city, to know I'm finally there."
That was the way he felt last season when he was named first team All-NBA. But when Sports Illustrated offered its first team at the All-Star break, the magazine selected Gary Payton and Michael Finley as its backcourt, placing Iverson and Jason Kidd on the second team.
"That doesn't mean anything," Iverson said. "The one at the end of the year is the only one that counts."

Vince Carter versus Allen Iverson is the kind of marquee matchup the NBA has been craving since the days of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
As two of the NBA's most exciting young stars, they are dazzling spectators and TV viewers with limitless creativity and breathtaking moves in the Toronto Raptors-Philadelphia 76ers playoff series.
"This matchup is great, and people are getting turned on to it," said NBA deputy commissioner Russ Granik, who was at Philadelphia's First Union Center on Wednesday night, when Iverson scored 54 points to Carter's 28 in the 76ers' 97-92 victory. "For better or worse, fans like it when you get superstars going against each other. People have been hearing about these guys for years now, but they haven't gotten this far before where they met each other at this level. That gets people interested."
"This is special because they both have their teams on their backs," 76ers president and part-owner Pat Croce said. "They're great basketball players, but more than that, they're exciting. They add an element of surprise when they get the ball. You don't know what's going to happen. They bring that anticipation and enthusiasm and they smile at the fans and interact with them. That's what the NBA needs. That's what we want. I want the people going nuts when Carter does something. I just want him doing it less than Allen."
That certainly was the case in Wednesday night's game as Iverson set a 76ers single-game playoff scoring record. Many of Carter's baskets were more spectacular, but Iverson was relentless in going to the basket.
"I didn't want to settle for anything," Iverson said. "I went and took what I wanted."
Even Carter acknowledged Iverson after the game.
"He did the job, that's for sure, but the series is not over," Carter said.
With the NBA's overall popularity declining and new rules designed to make the game more appealing set to take effect next season, an Iverson-Carter matchup is what the league really needed.
"Watching these two kids, I don't think our league is in any trouble," 76ers coach Larry Brown said. "They really are exciting."
"I think you are going to see more great individual matchups as the young kids we have in this league develop," he said. "We are always rushing to fix this and fix that, but maybe there is not always something wrong. The young guys have to be able to grow and make some mistakes. Let them grow up and then see what they can do. In this series, you are seeing two of the best going at each other."
It is looking increasingly likely that Michael Jordan will end a three-year retirement next season and return to the NBA as a player. Carter and Iverson will be right there, eagerly awaiting that matchup.
"You always want to test yourself against the best, and I would welcome the challenge," Iverson said.
Said Carter of Jordan: "He set the standard we are all trying to reach."
Jordan, of course, owns six championship rings and 10 scoring titles, while Carter, 24, has won nothing more than a rookie of the year award and a slam-dunk title. But Carter is one of the league's most popular players among fans, the leading vote-getter for the past two NBA All-Star Games. Iverson, 25, won his second scoring title this season and is favored to win this season's most valuable player award, as well.
"We try to promote the game and the teams and all the players," Granik said. "There are just certain players who capture people's imaginations. You can't deny that.
"We can't go out and create them. It just happens and they're doing it on the court. You can't make superstars, I don't care how good a promotion. It's what they do on the court, and here we have Iverson and Carter. They're doing it most nights on the floor. That's what people see and they love to watch it."
Iverson tough, Carter soft?
Carter and Iverson have had their share of critics since each was designated "the next Michael Jordan" — something that occurred shortly after they entered the league.
One thing that has never been questioned, however, is Iverson's toughness. He plays while hurt and is one of the league's most resilient players despite getting knocked down and run over on a regular basis. At a spindly 6-0, 165 pounds, he just keeps getting up.
"You can question a lot of things about Allen but not his heart," Brown says. "The kid wants to win and will give up his body to do it."
The 6-6, 225-pound Carter on the other hand has been labeled as soft. He isn't as tough as Iverson and when he hits the floor he doesn't bounce up as quickly. He gets criticized for settling for three-point shots instead of driving strong to the basket. In Wednesday night's game, Iverson repeatedly drew fouls and shot nine free throws; Carter never got to the line.

No longer a one-man show or half of a dynamic duo, AI (17.9 ppg, 5.4 apg) is blending his considerable skills into an ensemble cast that's used to winning big.
"It's always an honor to be named an All-Star and it's a blessing to be in this league," said Iverson, twice the Game's MVP. "Being named an All-Star makes it that much more special. The fact that the fans have voted me onto the team makes this a great honor and it's truly appreciated."
The final results of fan balloting didnt exactly bring any major surprises.
Miamis Dwyane Wade (2,741,413) and Detroits Allen Iverson (1,804,649) will be in the Easts backcourt, alongside reigning All-Star MVP LeBron James of Cleveland (2,940,823) and Bostons Kevin Garnett (2,066,833), who beat New Jerseys Yi Jianlian for the starting nod by 253,004 votes.
The All-Star game is always so meaningful to me because of the fans, said James, whose 24.3-point scoring average is the highest in All-Star game history for players with four or more appearances.
Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers (2,805,397) was the Wests top vote-getter, and will be joined at guard by New Orleans Chris Paul (2,134,798). At center, Yao (2,532,958) will start for the sixth time, along with forwards Tim Duncan of San Antonio (2,578,168) and Amare Stoudemire of Phoenix (1,460,429).
When I first heard I was leading in votes, I was shocked, to be honest with you, Howard said. I really didnt expect anything considering you have guys like Kobe, LeBron and Dwyane.
Howard entered Thursday averaging 20.2 points, 14.1 rebounds and 3.2 blocks for the Magic, who took the leagues best overall record (33-8) into a home game against the reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics.
But on the national stage, Howard still might be best-known for his exploits in last years All-Star dunk contest in New Orleans, with his cape sailing on one jam and capping his night by using teammate Jameer Nelson as a prop in another slam.
Thats his element there. Hes an entertainer. He loves it, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. I think sometimes people look at that kind of thing, where Dwights out there having a good time, and they doubt the seriousness of a guy. Thats not the case at all. Hes very serious about winning and very serious about being a great player.
Van Gundy likened Howards All-Star antics to what the NBA has come to see from another giant jokester—Shaquille ONeal.
Like Shaq, Dwight is a great person who loves to make other people smile and laugh, Van Gundy said. Thats what really makes him go. He likes to have a good time and he likes to help other people have a good time. Its his nature. Its his character.
That all being said, ONeal is reluctant to anoint Howard as the games, well, next Shaq.
Hes a good player, but everything hes done Ive invented, so Im not impressed, ONeal said. For me to get my eyes wide open about another big man, hell have to do something that I havent seen before or something that I havent invented. Everything that hes done, Ive invented it.
For Garnett, its his 12th All-Star selection—second-most among active players behind ONeals 14 trips. ONeal could see that total increase by one; he could easily be announced as a reserve when coaches balloting to fill out the seven remaining spots on each roster are announced next week.
Its like a good wave, man, Garnett said. If youve surfed the boogie board, you know you ride it til it dies out. And I love boogie boarding. Its all about that good wave and holding on and holding on for dear life. And once its over, you crash and you go out and try to find the next one.
Much like the East, the West voting was a bit predictable.
Stoudemires spot turned out to be the most vulnerable; he nipped San Antonios Bruce Bowen—who isnt even starting for the Spurs right now—in the starters balloting by 68,031 votes.
Plenty of late voting helped shape the West starting five.
The leagues next-to-last voting update, released on Jan. 22, showed Denvers Carmelo Anthony—whos currently sidelined with an injured right hand — ahead of Stoudemire by 10,431 votes, plus Houstons Tracy McGrady leading by a 157,063-vote margin over Paul.
Neither lead held up.
Paul wound up prevailing by nearly a half-million ballots, and Stoudemire took his appeals directly to voters.
Stoudemire launched an Internet campaign—www.vote4Amare.com—and Anthony said Thursday he probably would have given him the spot anyway.
Hes in Phoenix, Anthony, who finished fifth among West forwards behind the starters, Bowen and Houstons Ron Artest, told The Denver Post. Its his All-Star game.
In all, five players (Howard, James, Bryant, Wade and Duncan) all topped Yaos previous record vote mark.
Its always an unbelievable honor, because theres so many great players in this league and so many young guys coming in, when you get named a starter from the fans, Wade said.
